Dalhousie University Community Committee

The DUCC was set up by President Tom Traves in the fall of 2003 as an advisory board with the mandate to enhance the relationship between the University and the community. The committee has a wide membership. There are eight neighbourhood/community representatives, nine students, members from HRM, HR Police, the Spring Garden Road Business Association, the University of King's Collge and other organizations. The DUCC has met continuously since its establishment.

Major areas of mutual concern are being identified:

  1. The impact on the community of increased student enrolments in HRM.
  2. Security, safety, garbage disposal, littering, noise and land use.
  3. Communications and education aimed at students.
