The Halifax Disaster: Digital Collection
On the morning of 6 December 1917, Halifax was shaken by a catastrophic explosion that left devastation and death in its wake. Archibald MacMechan headed the Halifax Disaster Record Office and was commissioned to record an official history of the event. The resulting report contains a wealth of information on the events leading up to the explosion as well as the aftermath. The report and the photos contained in this collection add to the growing list of Halifax Explosion materials available online.
